Real estate appraisers decry Zoocasa calculator

The country’s professional real estate appraisers are sounding the alarm over a service that allows Internet users to receive instant estimates of a house’s worth using past appraisal data.
Zoocasa.com recently unveiled its Zoopraisal service, which allows anyone with a web connection to punch in an address and receive a valuation estimate.

Luxury residential prices in greater China and Singapore have reached peak


Average capital values fell 0.2% in quarter three of across monitored luxury residential markets in Asia, compared with the positive 1.6% growth recorded in the previous quarter, the latest data shows.

Proposed Bill Would Offer Visas to Foreign Homebuyers in U.S.

Foreigners may get an added bonus when they invest in residential real estate in the U.S. – a visa. Sens. Charles Schumer (D-New York) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) are proposing a bill that would offer residence visas to foreigners when they spend at least $500,000 in the U.S. residential real estate market, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Canadian price gap with U.S. widens to 20%


Canadian consumers are paying about 20% more on a selection of goods than their counterparts in the U.S., despite the strength of the loonie that should have helped curb prices here, according to a BMO report.

Canada weaning itself off U.S.


Canadian companies are now 30% less dependent on exports south of the border than they were a decade ago, and if Canada's economy wants to avoid entanglement in any U.S. recession the best bet is to keep that trend going, according to a new report from CIBC World Markets.

Canada Housing Starts Jump 7.3% In September From August

TORONTO (Dow Jones)--Canadian housing starts rose 7.3% to an annual rate of 205,900 in September, mainly due to an increase in multiple starts, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. said Tuesday.
